Accessible doors and entrances are important for seniors and people with disabilities or mobility limitations. They make it easier for people to enter and exit a building or room, and can help improve the overall accessibility of a space. Accessible doors and entrances can also help make a place more welcoming for everyone.

To ensure accessibility for those who use wheelchairs and walkers, wider doorways are essential. At least 32” of clearance is needed but 36″ would be even better to allow space for comfortable maneuvering. An aesthetically pleasing solution can easily be achieved by creating a gently sloping ramp with landscaping that leads up the front entrance instead of stairs or steps – making it both attractive and functional!

Automatic door openers can be installed for a more convenient entrance. They can be operated by a button or a sensor.

On the inside of the door, a lever or knob handle can be added for easier opening.

Ramps can be installed to allow for easier access to the doorway. The ramp should be at least as wide as the doorway and have a slope of 1:12 or less. Handrails are a must for ramps, as well as a landing at the top and bottom of the ramp for safety.

If there are stairs leading up to the door, a platform lift can be installed to make the entrance more accessible.
