A warranty is a commitment on the part of the contractor to make good on any flaws or problems that occur. The warranty period is usually one year.
Generally, the issues are minor like nails popping up or small cracks in drywall. These can usually be handled quickly and at your convenience. Larger issues, like broken pipes or electrical problems, must be taken care of immediately. Obviously it is to protect the integrity of your home and safety of its occupants.
There are also manufacturer’s warranties inherent in the appliances and some of the products used. Your renovator should be able to provide you with documentation and information about filing a claim, if necessary.
