As the work progresses, it is very likely that there will be the need for changes to the original plan, due to issues discovered in the process, change in design, a better way to accomplish the same effect, etc. Discuss these changes with your contractor/renovator. Evaluate the cost. Realize this may cause delays, not just in material delivery but availability of specialists and/or subcontractors.
All changes need to be in writing and initialed by both parties. This will avoid any misunderstandings or errors.
Realize that change orders are considered “extras” to the original contract. These extras come with a price that will be due with the next installment payment or at the end of the contract.
